Orange jessamine Murraya paniculata

Also known as orange jasmine or mock orange, orange jessamine is used in aromatherapy and in the creation of cosmetics and perfumes. It is a tropical evergreen shrub that grows to more than 20 feet tall and produces clusters of white, jasmine-scented flowers. Its fruits are small ovals orange to red in color.

PROPERTIES AND USE:
Stimulant, decongestant, astringent, and used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, wounds, rheumatism, sore muscles, venereal disease
TRADITIONAL PREPARATION:
For all conditions, pour 1 cup boiling water over 2 teaspoons dried flowers. Steep for 5 to 8 minutes. Strain, and serve warm. Drink up to 3 cups per day. Cooled, the infusion is used as a wash for wounds. For rheumatism and sore muscles, dry the flowers, and then crush into a powder. Apply as a poultice.
